Living in MN, the first few months of the year can be a bit cold and miserable. Even though there may not be a lot to do outside, it can be the perfect time to complete indoor projects—like organizing your home. We know how overwhelming organizing and staying organized can be, so we are offering some tips and tricks to make life easier.
Tip 1: Be Realistic and don’t try and tackle all your projects in a day or even over a weekend. Create a list of projects you would like to complete and schedule them out on a calendar. For example: Day 1: organize linen closet, Day 2: organize master bedroom closet, Day 3 and 4: organize laundry room. Tackling a project at a time will help the process seem less daunting. Once you make your schedule try and stick to it much as possible. As interior designers, we know that big projects can’t, nor should they, be completed over night.

Tip 2: Small steps will lead to big outcomes. Try cleaning or organizing one small area a day. Whether it be sorting through the mail pile or folding laundry, giving yourself a task at a time can help make life less hectic.
Trick: Don't ever walk past something that needs to be put away, even if you just pick it up and get it to its proper area and put it away later. This will save time and will be less overwhelming long term.
Tip 3: Never underestimate the power of the “To Do” list. If you write it, you will remember it.
Trick: Keep your “To Do” list in one place like a dedicated notebook. You could also download an app. like Wunderlist to your computer, phone and tablet—your list will sync across all of your devices so you’re never without it. www.wunderlist.com
